Abstract:

Collection comprises 1 card mounted albumen photograph and 13 snapshots. The card mounted photograph is an overview of the California School for the Deaf in the 1890s, taken from the hills to the east and providing an overview of the south side of Berkeley toward the San Francisco Bay. Snapshots depict the road approaching the School for the Deaf; Sather Tower at the University of California, Berkeley; Mill Valley from Mount Tamalpais; the South Coast Paper Mill in Soquel; a horse and carriage in Santa Cruz County (with Leonora Brimmer's father); and ruins of San Francisco City Hall after the 1906 Earthquake and Fire. Seven Yosemite snapshots are present: a man at Glacier Point (on "Cannon Rock"), Yosemite Falls (2), El Capitan, Half Dome [sic; actually Mount Watkins] and Mirror Lake, a Yosemite trail, and a valley overview with Half Dome.
